International stage creator. I conceive and develop original dance and musical theatre projects for theatres, festivals, artist residencies and international co-productions.
Sylviane de Reyes is an Argentine tango dancer and stage creator, working at the intersection of movement, costume, and theatrical scenography. Born in Paris and raised in Málaga, her Franco-Spanish background has deeply shaped her artistic vision and her relationship with the stage.
She began her dance journey at the age of 20, when she discovered Argentine tango, initiating a long process of physical and artistic research that she continues to develop to this day.
Alongside her artistic training, she obtained a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga, which deepens her sensitivity to language, communication, and processes of cultural mediation.
She then lived in London for four years, where she completed a Master's degree in Theatre Design at Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL), specialising in scenography and costume design for theatre. During this period, she also worked backstage in various theatres, gaining direct experience in the professional performance environment.
She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Dance from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, where she enriched her physical language through classical and contemporary dance, and consolidating a strong technical foundation in movement. In addition, she participated as a tango performer and cultural mediator at Constella Music (dir. Leo Geyer) in the project Connecting Stars, a virtual and interactive production integrating Argentine tango as a performative experience, designed for elderly care homes across the United Kingdom.
Later, she lived in Buenos Aires for two years to train professionally in Argentine tango with renowned masters, in both tango salon and stage tango, deepening her technical, musical, and cultural understanding of the form. She also joined the choreographic group led by Betsabet Flores, with which she competed at the Tango Envenado festival, achieving third place and integrating into a collective creative and performance context. Alongside this, she continues her training in classical dance and barre à terre, integrating multiple movement disciplines.
She is currently developing her work Gypsy Tango©, a musical in progress that fuses Argentine tango and flamenco, exploring the Spanish influence in Latin America through body, music, and stage dramaturgy.
